Big updates from our world of creativity, collaboration, and innovation!
Intern from Lancaster University
We’re thrilled to be working with Lancaster University to bring an intern into Feathertree to help run the co-creator community. They will help us co-ordinate the testing of every aspect of the app and performance techniques through creative challenges. Expect scenes from The NoW, other scripts, and even our favourite moments from books, film, TV, and theatre – all reimagined in the social digital format we’re developing. It’s an exciting journey of experimentation, learning, and refining as we go. Their fresh perspective and energy will be invaluable in shaping the community and the app itself. But you won’t see it, not any of it, if you don’t sign up to join us in our Beta Testing programme: https://www.feathertreearts.com/pitch-in
Prototype App Launch Incoming
The final version of the prototype app is set for release on Monday. Once it’s live, we’ll take a deep dive into how it looks and works – with a video walkthrough to show you all the details. This is a major milestone for us, and we can’t wait to share it with you. We’ll be paying close attention to feedback, so if you join us in the Beta Test Programme to try it out, let us know what you think! Your insights will be crucial in shaping future improvements and upgrades.
Funding & Crowdfunding Plans
We applied for an Immersive Arts grant to follow on from the Innovate UK Creative Catalyst grant we won last year. Unfortunately, the Immersive Arts grant didn’t come through this time, as we’re not quite at the commercialisation stage yet and that’s where they wanted us – but that’s not stopping us. We’re already looking at ways to refine our application and reapply, and there are plenty more grants out there that we’re exploring. Plus, we’ll be launching a crowdfunding campaign to keep momentum going and bring our community along for the ride. If you believe in what we’re creating, this will be your chance to directly contribute to its future. We’ll be sharing details soon on how you can help support us, whether financially or simply by spreading the word.
Rehearsals Have Begun – Stripped Back & Raw
Rehearsals have officially started! Right now, we’re working without the app – just raw footage, much like rehearsing on a bare stage with no costumes in a theatre. It’s all about the performances, the storytelling, and laying the foundations before we integrate the tech. This approach allows us to focus purely on the creative aspects before introducing digital elements, ensuring that the performance remains at the heart of everything we do. And because we are a global team, we are co-ordinating this through Discord. The early footage is already engaging and compelling, and we’re excited to see how things develop as we move forward.
Searching for a Producer for The NoW
Another big step – we’ve started looking for a producer for The NoW to help us secure funding and support. This is a key role that will help bring the project to life on a larger scale. If you know someone who might be interested, let us know! Having the right producer on board will help us connect with industry professionals, secure investment, and navigate the next stages of production. We’re taking our time to find the right fit, someone who shares our vision and enthusiasm for what we’re building.
Supporting the Blog & Future Growth
We’ve had some early pledges to fund this blog once we turn on payments – which is amazing.
If more people pledge, it will help us grow, support our creatives, and keep this journey going. Every bit of support makes a difference. If you enjoy reading these updates and want to see more behind-the-scenes content, insights, and exclusive previews, consider pledging when the option becomes available.
That’s it for now – exciting times ahead! Stay tuned, and if you want to get involved, reach out here - https://www.feathertreearts.com/pitch-in.
Let’s build something incredible together.
There’s so much more to come, and we’re grateful to have such an engaged and passionate community supporting us on this journey.
